May all who come behind us find us faithful

1 Corinthians 4:1-2 This, then, is how you ought to regard us: as servants of Christ and as those entrusted with the mysteries God has revealed. Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful.

Proverbs 28:20 A faithful man will abound with blessings.

Joseph is another example of good things happening to a faithful man. Joseph was abducted by his brothers and sold into slavery. But God was with him and took care of him. Joseph’s life illustrates this truth: When you are obedient to God, you can conquer any obstacle put in your way. Joseph’s statement supports this. “Don’t be angry with yourselves that you did this to me, for God did it. He sent me here ahead of you to preserve your lives” (Genesis 45:5).

Joseph believed that no matter what harm his enemies might inflict upon him, God would remain faithful and come through.

Faithfulness is not an option, it is required of us. In the parable of the talents, Jesus points out that the master praised the servants, who made gains with their talents: Matthew 25:21 ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Enter into the joy of your master!’ But the unprofitable servant was cast into the outer darkness (Matthew 25:21).

Throughout the church age Christians were persecuted for their faith in Jesus Christ and also today in many countries believers are in prisons or die as martyrs as Revelation 2:10 speaks about faithfulness even unto death: Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to cast some of you into prison, so that you will be tested, and you will have tribulation for ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life. jk
