"He who strikes a man so that he dies shall surely be put to
death... "And he who strikes his father or his mother shall surely
be put to death. "He who kidnaps a man and sells him, or if he is
found in his hand, shall surely be put to death... "You shall not
permit a sorceress to live. "Whoever lies with an animal shall surely
be put to death. "He who sacrifices to any god, except to the LORD
only, he shall be utterly destroyed...'You shall keep the Sabbath, therefore,
for it is holy to you. Everyone who profanes it shall surely be put to
death; for whoever does any work on it, that person shall be cut off from
among his people. 2. Mose 21, 12 + 15-16 + 22, 18-20 + 31, 14
In the Old Testament, we see that the death penalty was carried out as
according to the particular offence. In our nation, there is no longer
any death penalty in this present day. The death penalty was at that time
the "price" that an individual paid for specific sins. You can
also replace this word "price" with consequences. Still today,
as a result of sin there is the death penalty. For the wages of sin
is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23
Every decision which we make has a consequence. It is not always immediately
death, however, it could be pain, broken relationships, bad experiences,
and other difficulties. As a result of all decisions having consequences,
it is especially important to think things through and to ask God for
advice before making a decision.
Remember: If your decisions correspond with the will of God, then you
do not need to worry about the results! jk
