Be a follower of Christ

Isaiah 55:8-9 - NLT - “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the LORD. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.”

Romans 12:2 – ESV - Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

I have always been the type of person that likes to have everything planned out. Ever since I was a little girl, I knew almost exactly what I wanted to do when I was older. I basically had my life planned out when I was twelve years old. My plans now are to go off to this great university, major in business, and become a buyer for a clothing company.

Although there is nothing wrong with having a plan like this, I must not lose sight of what God wants me to do with my life. Luke 9:23-24 says: “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must put aside your selfish ambition, shoulder your cross daily, and follow me. If you try to keep your life for yourself, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for me, you will find true life” (NLT). I might think that these plans are exactly what I want to do with my life, but if I forget that this life is not my own, I will lose sight of what it truly means to be a follower of Christ. kc
