Do Not Miss The Most Important

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave
his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish,
but have everlasting life.
For sure, we've all asked ourselves this question at one time or another:
Why am I here? What is the meaning and purpose of my existence here on
this earth? The answer to this question can comprise of enjoying yourself,
having a career and a family and/or making a contribution to technology
and progress in our world and exerting a positive influence.
These goals are completely OK and acceptable if they are in the right
place in life and are in harmony with God's Word; however, in the midst
of all of that, we must first of all understand that an all-knowing and
wonderful God has created us. As a consequence, the next question follows
which we need to ask ourselves: "What was His original plan when
He made me?"
In Genesis 3, we see that the sin of Adam and Eve set up a barrier for
God's first and most important purpose which He had in mind for us, namely,
fellowship. The reason why Jesus Christ came into this world was to restore
the broken fellowship again which had occurred between mankind and Himself.
This had been destroyed by sin. God could not bear the thought of spending
eternity without us, so He laid down His life for us. My question is this:
Are we able to endure the thought of spending eternity without Him? If
we cannot imagine such a thing, then this should drastically change our
relationship to Him. jw
