Things are not always as they seem...

2 King 6:16-17 So he answered, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” And Elisha prayed, and said, “LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” Then the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

1 John 4:4 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

The servant saw the city surrounded by the Syrian army. All he could see was that in a matter of time, we will be captured or even killed. We don’t even have the resources here to defend us. It’s plain to see we are outnumbered. But the Syrian army was only one little part of the picture.

There was something else there that was hidden for the natural eye. So, the prophet had to pray: Lord, open his eyes that he might see.

It’s not always the things we can see with our natural eyes that portrays the whole picture. That’s why Paul admonishes the Corinthian church not to look on the things you can see but rather on the things you cannot see. We need to be reminded—more are they that are with us, than those with the enemy. Greater is He that is in us, than he that is in the world. (see 2 King 6:16 and 1 John 4:4) Rev Gøran ANdreassen
