Mat 7:24-29 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine,
and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his
house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and
the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it
was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings
of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man,
which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the
floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it
fell: and great was the fall of it. And it came to pass, when Jesus
had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine:
For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.
The
parable of the wise man who built his house upon a rock and the foolish
man who built his house on sand, is one of the most well-known parables
in the Bible. When I recently read this passage in the Scriptures
again, it seemed as if I suddenly saw it through completely different
eyes and in a brand new dimension. When He was speaking about the
rock upon which the house was built, I remembered that He spoke about
a “rock” in a different place in the Scriptures. In Matthew 16:18,
in connection to the revelation of Peter, Jesus states who He really
is, that is, His true identity as a rock or a foundation upon which
He builds His church.
If you truly find out and understand who Jesus really is, then you
will build your life on the same unshakeable rock upon which the Church
is built. It does not matter how high the waves are beating or whether
trouble, problems and trials are coming against you, you can rest
assured that you will never be overcome, for your life is not built
upon the sand of this temporal life, but rather on the rock of ages
who alone gives eternal life, namely, Jesus Christ. KMcC
