What about eternity?
John 6:35 And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He
who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall
never thirst.
Matthew 4:4 But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall
not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth
of God.’ ”
A
couple of days ago I was reading a slogan at a Kebab shop: “Life is
short, eat good food”. Right away this thought came to my mind: Eternity
is long, eat good spiritual food. I shared this thought right away with
two workers and a customer there. Later I realized that this is not
exactly true, because “long” is a term that measures something, but
eternity can’t be measured. Still, I believe that everybody understood
my point.
Especially in the beginning of a new year, we are aware of the fact
that time is passing by so quickly. Life is really short and for all
of us eternity is actually a near future reality. What are 50 or 100
years compared to eternity?
We usually take care of our flesh really well, but how about our soul
that will live eternally? If you don’t believe that you have a soul
that is eternal, it will be too late when you find out that this is
true.
So many souls are starving, while their flesh is doing really well.
They have no spiritual food for their soul that would provide counsel,
guidance, but most of all, show God’s salvation and the path to eternal
life.
Isaiah 55:11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please,
and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
Jeremiah 15:16 Your words were found, and I ate them, and Your word
was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart; for I am called by Your
name, o LORD God of hosts.
Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the
word of God.
God loves us, and He wants us to make it to heaven. He offers us grace
and mercy. He paid the price at the cross of Calvary for our sins, so
that we can have redemption and eternal life. Therefore, fill and satisfy
your soul with the spiritual food, which is the Word of God.
You will be thankful for all eternity if you have hearkened to God’s
voice. Don’t delay, postpone, be distracted or push it away when God
gives you direction.
Where will you spend eternity? It’s up to you, God offers you salvation.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten
Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting
life.
Hell was not mentioned yet, but it needs to be mentioned. It is the
most tragic and most sad reality there is, because God made provision
for salvation. For this church age the Apostle Peter commanded at the
Day of Pentecost in Acts 2:38-39: “Repent, and let every one of
you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins;
and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is
to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as
the Lord our God will call.” And the Apostle Peter really tried
to urge them in verse 40: And with many other words he testified and
exhorted them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation.”
We must obey God’s word as long as we have a chance. The Bible says
today is the day of salvation (see 2 Corinthians 6:2). Tomorrow is not
granted. May we all feed our soul with God’s Word and then trust and
obey Him all the days of our lives no matter the costs. We live in perilous
times. Be always ready for the coming of Our Lord Jesus. ra
Happy New Year and God bless you abundantly.
