Big time word JOY Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength. Nehemiah 8:10b Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Did you know that the word JOY is different from the word HAPPINESS? Happiness is based on some thing or circumstantial happening. Joy is different. True joy isn't depending on anything. Joy is an attitude that lives within you. Joy doesn't change when situations change. Even though it may seem impossible, joy can exist in the midst of difficulty. In the Bible, Christians are encouraged to be joyful when they encounter problems and to have joy during difficult times because Jesus has overcome the world. Pain is unavoidable, and being happy is conditional, but joy is a fruit of the Spirit that becomes available when you depend on God. jk Additional verses for study: Psalm 16:11; 94:19; Proverbs 17:22; Ecclesiastes 7:14; Isaiah 61:10; Habakkuk 3:17-18; Malachi 4:2; John 16:24; Romans 12:12; Philippians 4:4; Galatians 5:22-23; 1 Peter 1:8-9
