As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide
in My love. If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just
as I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in His love. These things
I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy
may be full. John 15, 9-11
The
Bible, the Word of God, is full of wonderful examples of people who were
obedient to God. The Israelites remained the special people of God, even
though they were unfaithful, because Abraham was obedient. The heroes
of the Bible, for instance, Abraham or Moses, were not perfect, however,
they were obedient. God loves obedience. God rejoices when we choose to
obey Him. Through our obedience we show our love to Jesus Christ. Jesus
said in John 14:15 If you love Me, keep My commandments. In John
14:21 He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves
Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him
and manifest Myself to him."
Obedience helps us to live according to God's plan. Obeying God means
more than just knowing the Bible; it is living everyday for the Lord Jesus,
with the assurance that He has everything under control and knows what
is best for your life. Make an effort to please God by believing and obeying
His Word. Then you will have a wonderful promise, namely, fellowship with
Jesus Christ. If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father
will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.
John 14:23 Obey God and be blessed abundantly. sw
