Stay in the church
Joshua 2:17-19 So the men said to her: “We will
be blameless of this oath of yours which you have made us swear, unless,
when we come into the land, you bind this line of scarlet cord in the
window through which you let us down, and unless you bring your father,
your mother, your brothers, and all your father’s household to your
own home. So it shall be that whoever goes outside the doors of your
house into the street, his blood shall be on his own head, and we will
be guiltless…
Hebrews 10:24-25 And let us consider one another
in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling
of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another,
and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
The
message was clear. Only inside the house there is safety. Do NOT leave
the house. The cord (a type for the blood of Jesus) and message of salvation
belongs in the house. When the entire wall came crushing down, one part
remained intact. That’s where the house of Rahab was.
Some people think: I don’t need the church. I can just take the cord
with me everywhere I go in the city and the cord will save me. No, the
cord can only save you in the house. Salvation is given to the church
and those in it. The house of Rahab represents the church. Jesus said:
I will build my church, and the gates of Hell shall NOT prevail against
it.
Don’t leave the church. Only in the church are you safe. Rev. Gøran
