In
the name of Jesus Christ
Somebody
may address a question and ask: "Is it really important to receive
the Holy Ghost?" Jesus Christ told Nicodemus, Verily, verily,
I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit,
he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. (John 3:5) and if the
baptism was a symbol of the birth of the water, what is the symbol
of the birth of the spirit?
Jesus spoke to His disciples about the Holy Ghost and how the spirit
will teach and guide them and how His spirit will be the Comforter
to them and to us in this life and He opened their minds to understand
the Books. Afterwards the disciples remembered what they read in the
Old Testament in Isaiah 28:11 For with stammering lips and another
tongue will he speak to this people and another scripture in
Joel 2:28, where God says: And it shall come to pass afterward,
that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your
daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young
men shall see visions.
Ten days after Jesus ascension to Heaven, the disciples were together
with other believers in the Upper Room in Jerusalem and they were
praying fervently and expectantly. Then the Lord sent His Holy Spirit
upon them, as He promised and there appreared tongues of fire and
settled upon each of them. Acts 2:1-3 And when the day of Pentecost
was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly
there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it
filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto
them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
Jesus filled all of them with His spirit and they all started speaking
in other tongues as the spirit of God gave utterance. Then Peter stood
up and spoke to the multitude that gathered together at Jerusalem.
Some of them were amazed, others criticizing when Peter told them
"Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of
Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift
of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children,
and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall
call." (Acts 2:38-39).
This Promise is still
valid today and it is a free gift to everybody. But, accepting the
promise is an important condition. It is the condition that Jesus
gave to enter into Heaven. As a result, speaking in tounges is something
important to every believer, as a sign of having received the Holy
Ghost, so no one will enter into Heaven without it. es
May the Lord Jesus be with you!
