Choices
Deuteronomy 30:19 I call heaven and earth to witness
against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing
and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live.
Romans 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed
by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and
acceptable and perfect will of God.
Joseph
was surrounded by those neither knew or even worshiped YHWH. No one
in his family knew where his whereabouts. He could live any way he wanted,
but it is notable that he retained his honor before God. By choosing
to withstand the advances of his master’s wife.
Joseph gives two powerful reasons for his non-agreement with her wishes:
He had gratitude for his master to whom he owed all that he had, and
secondly, he had the fear of God. Remember, we have to live in consequences
of our choices, don’t we? When we believe God, he will help us make
the right choices. Lynne Conley
