God's harvest is the priority |
John 4:35-38 Do you not
say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’?
Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they
are already white for harvest!
And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that
both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together.
For in this the saying is true: ‘One sows and another reaps.’
I sent you to reap that for which you
have not labored; others have labored, and you have entered into their
labors.”
Lift your eyes and look at the fields for they are ripe for harvest. Our
eyes can be focused on so many things, such as worries, problems, pleasures,
materialism, obstacles, taking it easy etc. that our eyes are diverted
from the fields and we are oblivious to them. We are so busy, as a result,
that we are not fit as labourers to work in the harvest. The enemy is
afraid that we will see the ripe harvest field and start working in it,
he does all that he can to hinder us from working there. If you wait for
the perfect working conditions and weather conditions, or that all problems
in life are solved beforehand, then you will never have the right time
for harvest. Jesus reminds us in Matthew 6:33-34
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these
things shall be added to you.
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its
own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. Jesus
promises us here that when we take care of the harvest, He will take care
of everything else.
If we are close to God and full of the Holy Spirit, that is, being in
His divine will, He will lead us and will do a great work. He is Lord
of the harvest! Zechariah 4:6 Not by might nor by power, but by My
Spirit,’ Says the Lord of hosts.
The harvest is the priority of God and should also be ours: Luke 19:10
For the Son of Man has come to seek and to
save that which was lost.
Matthew 9:37-38 Then He said to His disciples,
“The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few.
Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”
Help us Lord, to be good workers in your harvest field and send more workers
into your harvest. In Jesus' name, Amen. ra
