BUILD A PROGRAM
OF PRAYER FOR YOUR LIFE
Build a program of prayer for your life, that you
can use on a daily basis. The extent of blessing a person receives
when praying depends upon the way he approaches God in prayer. In
order to build something, we need tools. In this case, we are referring
to spiritual things, therefore, spiritual tools are necessary.
WORSHIP
(Psalm 22:3; Psalm 63:3; Hebrews 13:15)
Giving honour to whom honour is due: Every prayer should begin with
worship, that is, giving praise to God. In our worship, we are acknowledging
the greatness of God and His characteristics. He is almighty, omniscient,
and omnipresent. He reigns supremely over the whole of creation. He
loves righteousness and is no respecter of persons. He hates evil
and will bring it all into judgment. He is gracious and always willing
to bless. There is none like Him. He does not need anyone to help
Him to do something. He is wonderful, and every knee will bow down
before Him, in heaven, on earth and under the earth. His name is glorious,
and we have salvation in His name - JESUS, which has been called over
us. His goodness will last forever - to Him be the glory! After having
acknowledged the greatness of God and having given praise, we must...
FORGIVE
(Matthew 6:14-15)
Nothing can harm a person more and hinder his spiritual growth than
an unforgiving spirit! In order to receive forgiveness, we must forgive
others. When we have forgiven everyone and have shown forgiveness
for all the things that were done, then God will also forgive us.
- This is His promise to us. In order to be sure that we really have
forgiven everyone for everything, it is necessary that we also pray
for them. If we have difficulty doing that, this means that we have
not forgiven them, and we ourselves will not receive forgiveness from
God. As a consequence, physical and mental diseases can arise when
we do not forgive. A curse resides upon every individual who does
not forgive. Healing will firstly come when we confess with our whole
hearts to God that we have truly forgiven! Now it is time to...
CONFESS AND BE SET
FREE FROM SIN
(Psalm 66:18 and Psalm 139:23 -24)
Nobody is perfect; everyone makes mistakes. Even King David was not
too high and mighty to ask forgiveness for unknown sin. The angels
in heaven rejoice over a person who repents and starts walking in
the right direction, that is namely, walking in the way that the Word
of God has prepared for us. Therefore, go ahead and get rid of all
your sin, and confess your sins before God, mentioning them by name.
Realize that you need His help to prevent sin having control over
you, making you do what it wants. Read Genesis 4:6-7 (Sin is the power
which motivates people to rebel against God's laws. Jesus said that
this power is from the devil.) After this, the next stage is to...
ASK
(James 4:2-3 and Matthew 6:9-13)
"Yet ye have not, because ye ask not...Ye ask, and receive not,
because ye ask amiss." mb
