1 Corinthians 16:15 I beseech you, brethren, (ye know the house of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they have addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints,) (King James Version) 2 Samuel 23:10 He arose and attacked the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand stuck to the sword. The LORD brought about a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to plunder. Stephanas? Never heard of him! There must have been something extraordinary about him to be mentioned in Scripture. How did he make the cut? He was an addict, and so was his household. Paul wrote, "They have addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints." Are you addicted to the ministry? When you're addicted, you can't go a day without a fix. Eleazar, one of David's mighty men, was so addicted to fighting for the Lord that, "His hand clave to the sword." He couldn't let go! Have you let go of your ministry? When you go to school, is your hand clave to the Word, or do you leave your Bible at church? To be addicted, you must first have a habit. Start today by reaching out to someone. I challenge you this week to be bold and take a stand for Christ. You'll soon realize that what you won't let go of won't let go of you. Now, that's addiction! jn Additional verses to study: Deuteronomy 10:12; Proverbs 12,27; Ecclesiastes 9,10; Matthew 6,33; Mark 10,42-5; 2 Timothy 1,6-9; 2,15; Revelation 14,13 |
