Message from the Monthly Flyer from July 2007

Everything changes. All I can see, all I can touch with my hands, all I can hear, all I can taste, all I can smell; everything changes. Nothing in this world remains the same. When men want to build a house or make a monument that will last several generations, they choose the finest and hardest stone for the construction. A stone changes very slowly. A building made of stones will last long.

This is the reason Jesus-Christ is often called our Rock. He is a rock that never changes. Jesus is the GREAT ROCK upon which we can build.

Jesus told his friends a story about two men building their houses. One of them built on rock. The Storm came and the wind and the rain beat against that house; yet the house built on rock did not fall. The other man built his house on sand. When the storm arose, that house was destroyed because of the instability of sand which is very bad foundation.

Jesus said: “Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock.” Matthew 7:24.

The words of Christ are true and inalterable. Listen to the word is not enough; but when we begin to obey it, it becomes a solid foundation for an indestructible life.

Let us analyse the rock which never changes, Jesus Christ:

His Love never changes!
“The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.” Jeremiah 31:3
And we read also: “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? … Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.” Romans 8:35-37.

We can build on the love of Christ. It is always there, always reliable.

His Word never changes!
“The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.” Isaiah 40:8.
“Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.” Matthew 24:35
The Word of God is true and still valid for all men, no matter the age. You can build on his Word.

His Power never changes!
The power of God is always the same to save those who call on his name.
“Behold, the LORD's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear.” Isaiah 59:1
And we can also read: “Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.” Hebrews 7:25.
The sins of the whole world have fallen upon our Rock, Jesus Christ. In this changing world we can find this unchanging promise: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9.

You can build your hope on Jesus Christ. He was the unchanging Rock yesterday, He is the Rock on which I build today, and He has become the Rock of my eternal salvation. Jesus is the only Rock. He will never cease being our Rock. Build on Him!
