Message from the Monthly Flyer from June 2013
John 13,12-17 So when He had washed their feet,
taken His garments, and sat down again, He said to them, "Do you
know what I have done to you? You call me Teacher and Lord, and you
say well, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed
your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. For I have given
you an example, that you should do as I have done to you. Most assuredly,
I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master; nor is he who
is sent greater than he who sent him. If you know these things, blessed
are you if you do them."
If
you want to learn more about Jesus, you will find out how different
he was in comparison to the other people. Above all, he was not egoistic;
he was a servant. His whole life on earth is a reflection of this. He
was born in a stable instead of a palace. He entered into Jerusalem
riding on a donkey, instead of on a high horse; and he washed the feet
of his disciples and said that they should do the same. Jesus is an
example that we should emulate. He taught us to serve.
The question is not: "How can I become great?", but rather:
"How can I serve someone else?" Find someone for who you can
do something good and experience God's blessing! sw
