Message from the Monthly Flyer from March 2015
1Corinthians 1:17-18 For Christ sent me not to
baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the
cross of Christ should be made of none effect. For the preaching of
the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are
saved it is the power of God.
The
preaching of the cross is foolishness for a certain category of people.
This is very sad because these people will be lost for not accepting
the message and the preaching. It is true that in the world we are living
in today, thousands of people who call themselves Christians do not
realize the saving power of the Gospel. The blind teachers that they
are following are telling them to simply perform some good works and
believe in the existence of a god. For some of them, the death of Jesus
is nothing more than the death of a prophet. Others believe that Jesus
already took everything upon Him and endured everything and they don’t
need to do anything about their salvation.
Some people pretend that if they believe in Jesus and are serious about
it they will definitely be saved, even if they don’t know it. This cannot
be true because Apostle Paul declared in 2 Corinthians 4:3 But if
our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost.
It is not possible for a person to be saved without the message of the
cross. That’s the reason why Apostle Paul said that the message of the
cross of Jesus is foolishness for many people and is not taken serious.
People trust in their good works and that is their plan of salvation.
They make up their own salvation plan but that cannot work and they
will realize that at the end of their lives when it is too late. People
like to present their good works to God and trust in their flesh, in
their own understanding and in their feelings. But these three are exactly
the things that God destroys at the cross.
1Corinthians 1:26-29 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that
not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble,
are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound
the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound
the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things
which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not,
to bring to nought things that are: That no flesh should glory in his
presence.
The wise and the smart people of this world praise
each other and give compliments to one another. They are not seeking
after those things that pertain to God. Consequently God will reject
them forever. Just imagine that it would be possible to enter into the
presence of God by giving a certain amount of money or with a certain
degree of education. The way to God would be completely saturated with
people! God has another plan and salvation is what we find in Revelation
22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth
say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let
him take the water of life freely.
We have peace with God because we believe in the blood
that Jesus shed on the cross where He carried all our sins. We are justified
through the blood: Colossians 1:20 And, having made peace through
the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself;
by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
