A short Biblestudy - 6 Steps to Salvation
1. The Bible is the Word of God:
a. 2 Peter 1:20-21; 2 Timothy 3:16 - God called people to write down His Word,
b. John 20:30-31, - "...that ye might believe."
c. Revelation 22:18-19 - Do not add or take anything away
d. Hebrew 1:1-2 - "God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake
in time past...by the prophets..."
e. John 1:1 - " In the beginning was the Word."
f. Revelation 1:3 + 19 - "Blessed is he that readeth...which are written
therein."
g. Galatians 1:8-9 "Preach any other gospel unto you than that which we
have preached unto you, let him be accursed."
2. Every person can find God if they
seek for Him from their whole hearts:
a. Acts 17:26-31 (27) - He is not far from every one of us.
b. Deuteronomy 4:29-31 - Thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy
heart and with all thy soul.
c. Isaiah 55:6-7 - Seek ye the LORD while he may be found.
d. Jeremiah 29:13-14 - "And ye shall seek me, and find me..."
e. Mark 11:22 - "Have faith in God."
f. Amos 5:4 - "Seek ye me, and ye shall live."
g. Luke 12:31 - "But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things
shall be added unto you. "
h. Matthew 7:7-8 "For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh
findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened."
3. God is looking for people who believe in Him (i.e.
His Word), and He is a rewarder of those who seek Him and want to come to Him.
a. 2 Chronicles 16:9 - "For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout
the whole earth, to shew himself strong..."
b. John 4:23 - "the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit
and in truth; for the Father seeketh such to worship him. "
c. Hebrew 11:6 - "But without faith (i.e. complete trust in HIS Word) it
is impossible to please God."
d. Matthew 11:28-30 - "Come unto Me all ye that labor and are heavy laden,
and I will give you rest."
e. John 4:49-51 - Faith in Jesus Christ brings blessings.
f. Luke 19:10 - For the Son of Man is come to seek and to save that which was
lost."
g. Acts 10:4+34-35 "Your prayers and gifts to the poor have come up as
a memorial offering before God."
4. Jesus Christ is the one who we must believe in!
a. Colossians 1:15-22 - Jesus Christ is the image of the invisible God,
b. 1 Timothy 2:5 - The man Christ Jesus is the only mediator between God and
men.
c. John 7:38 - Jesus said, He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said,
out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
d. John 8:24 "I said therefore unto you that ye shall die in your sins;
for if ye believe not that I am He, ye shall die in your sins."
e. John 8:12 Then spoke Jesus again unto them, saying, “I am the Light of the
world. He that followeth Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light
of life."
f. 2 Corinthians 5:18 - Reconciled by Jesus Christ "...who hath reconciled
us to Himself by Jesus Christ and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation."
5. What is the Great Commission and what did the disciples,
who Jesus had taught, preach?
If God saved these people at that time through
His gospel, then the same gospel will also save us! Therefore, let us find out
what this gospel is about:
a. The Great Commission; Matthew 28:19-20; Mark 16:15-19; Luke 24:46-47; l Corinthians
15:1-5
b. There is only one gospel that saves: Galatians 1:8
c. Believe In Jesus: Acts 1:8 "...ye shall be witnesses unto me";
4:12 "there is none other name (than Jesus) -
d. Repentance and changing of your mind, bringing forth works; Acts 17:30
e. Forgiveness of sin through baptism in Jesus' name; Acts 2:38; 8:16; 10:48
f. Baptism of the Holy Spirit; John 1:33; Acts 2:2-4 and 38-39; 8,17; 10,44-46;
19,6
g. Acts 5:32 "...the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey
him.
6. Challenge: Do you believe in the Scriptures and the
gospel? The Bible tells us to seek salvation before it is too late! We can see
that we firstly have the hope of being saved once we have been obedient to His
Word:
a. Mark 16:16 - "He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but
he that believeth not shall be damned!"
b. Matthew 24:14 - "And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in
all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come, "
c. 2 Thessalonians 1:6-10 - "... taking vengeance on them that know not
God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ."
d. Joshua 24:15 - ...Choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods
which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods
of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will
serve the LORD."
e. Acts 2:37 - "...What shall we do?" - Acts 8:36b - "...See,
here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?" - Acts 16:30 "...Sirs,
what must I do to be saved?"
Jesus is God
Deuteronomy 6:4-5 - "Hear,
O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God
with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might."
Isaiah 9:6 - "For unto us
a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his
shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God,
The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace."
Isaiah 43:10-11 - "Ye are
my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may
know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God
formed, neither shall there be after me. I, even I, am the LORD; and beside
me there is no saviour."
Matthew 1:23 - "Behold, a
virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call
his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. "
Matthew 28:18 - "And Jesus
came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in
earth."
John 1:1-3 +14 - "In the
beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The
same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without
him was not any thing made that was made. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt
among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the
Father,) full of grace and truth. "
John 9:35-38 - "Jesus heard
that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost
thou believe on the Son of God? He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that
I might believe on him? And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and
it is he that talketh with thee. And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped
him."
John 10:30-33 - " I and my
Father are one. Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him. Jesus answered
them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works
do ye stone me? The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee
not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.
"
John 20:28 - "And Thomas
answered and said unto him, My LORD and my God. "
Colossians 1:16 - "For by
him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible
and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or
powers: all things were created by him, and for him." (Jesus is the creator)
Colossians 2:9 - "For in
him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily."
Philippians 2:5-7 - "Let
this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form
of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God. But made himself of no
reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness
of men."
1 Timothy 3:16 - "And without
controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh,
justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed
on in the world, received up into glory. "
1 Timothy 6:14-16 - "That
thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of
our Lord Jesus Christ: Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed
and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; Who only hath immortality,
dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen,
nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen."
2 John 1:7 - "For many deceivers
are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the
flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. "
Revelation
1:8 - "I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith
the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty."
