The Curses of the Last Generation!
Scripture Text: Isaiah
5:20-24
Sub-theme we must consider daily the environment that surrounds us!
The Key Word is VIGILANT
Opening
thought: humanity sees and experiences the immoral devastation that
surrounds them that will possibly victimize their very person and being.
The thoughts and ideas practiced by many today are far beyond perverse
and serve no purpose in life, done all to satisfy the craving of the
flesh which is polluted through the misdirection of the mind; the souls
of men have become corrupted without the direction of their creator!
Isaiah 5:20-24
20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness
for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet
for bitter!
Notes: Woe is Alas: expresses sorry or grief, the generation is so confused
it can’t discern the difference between the two opposites!
21 Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their
own sight!
Notes: Woe unto them that they presume to be wise but yet becomes
fools, that claim to be prudent or intelligent but no one recognizes
it but them!
22 Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength
to mingle strong drink:
Notes: boosters of their vises as though it was a God given talent!
23 Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness
of the righteous from him!
Notes: wickedness will be eternally rewarded, wickedness should
never be justified by those who understand righteousness nor should
the righteous be scorned!
24 Therefore as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth
the chaff, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall
go up as dust: because they have cast away the law of the LORD of hosts,
and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.
Notes: For everything we do or say there will always be a reward,
eternal rewards are administered according to motive and intent, the
blood covers repented sin through forgiveness!
Proverbs 30:11-13
11 There is a generation that curseth their father, and doth not bless
their mother.
Notes: curses are not only administered through words but also
action, deeds and intent. How much honor and respect do we have towards
our mothers regardless of her open failures and mistaken deeds, we should
bless her as Jesus blessed Mary because she is the mother of my birth!
12 There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is
not washed from their filthiness.
Notes: Pride comes before a fall, Proverbs 16:18 Pride goeth
before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. The power of
His blood will wash away our filth!
13 There is a generation, O how lofty are their eyes! and their eyelids
are lifted up.
Notes: be careful on what you think about yourself.
Philippians 2:3-4
3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness
of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things
of others.
Proverbs 30:14-19
14 There is a generation, whose teeth are as swords, and their jaw teeth
as knives, to devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from
among men.
Notes: Some of those of great wealth and power despise the poor,
the multitude of the poor is much greater than the haves, people by
many governments are used as objects instead of people! There is no
or little regard for the human soul, some give more attention to animals
than they do people.
15 The horseleach hath two daughters, crying, Give, give. There are
three things that are never satisfied, yea, four things say not, It
is enough:
16 The grave; and the barren womb; the earth that is not filled with
water; and the fire that saith not, It is enough.
Notes: The flesh will never find satisfaction, it will always
be consumed with greed, the more it gets the more it wants!
The grave: it will consume the humanity until there is no more generations
left.
The barren womb: will never be satisfied until it gives birth to a child!
The earth that is not filled with water: the earth was completely consumed
in water. Without water nothing on the earth grows or blossoms, no fruit,
no vegetables it takes earth and water!
Fire: looks to consume everything in its pathway!
17 The eye that mocketh at his father, and despiseth to obey his mother,
the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall
eat it.
Notes: Many times our frustrations are expressed not always with words
but with our eyes and thoughts as we think and assume our parents are
behind the times and really don’t understand, but we must be careful
for they have lived life and their instruction is proven by experience.
The malefactors that died on the cross their bodies had to be removed
because the ravens come and would pluck out their eyes; this is a symbol
of shame. The young eagles eat it are a curse to the next generation
in result to our rebellion towards our parents instruction and lack
of respect!
18 There be three things which are too wonderful for me, yea, four which
I know not:
19 The way of an eagle in the air; the way of a serpent upon a rock;
the way of a ship in the midst of the sea; and the way of a man with
a maid.
Notes: Remember four is the symbol of the earth: The earth has
four corners and 4 seasons the light in the heavens the stars moon and
sun on the fourth day or the Gospels.
1.The way of an eagle: imagine the eagle in flight high above the mountains.
We can fly high above our problems and trails!
2.The serpent upon a rock: the scales of a serpent prevent the serpent
from receiving heat, therefore the serpent climbs unto a rock to receive
the rays of the sun for heat. This relates to our sinful nature in need
of Christ!
3.The way of a ship: in the mist of the sea of life we need Jesus abroad
our ship as captain to give us safe direction!
4.The man with a maid: We must express our love and devotion in our
relationship with Christ that we aren’t consumed with tradition and
religion. It must be a genuine Love Affair!
