Genesis 22:2 Und er sprach: Nimm Isaak, deinen einzigen Sohn, den du lieb hast, und gehe hin in das Land Morija und opfere ihn daselbst zum Brandopfer auf einem Berge, den ich dir sagen. Hebrew 11:8 By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. Do you perhaps feel as if everything and everyone outside in the world is out to get you? There seems to be so much pressure and stress in life and it's all put on you. If there was someone who must have felt like that, then it would definitely have been Abraham. Our whole life long we have heard this Bible story. First of all, God requires of him to leave his home and move to a strange land. Years later, God promises him a son at the time when he already should be a grandfather! Can you imagine what other people were saying about it?! When he received the promise from God, God commands him to sacrifice his miracle. Sometimes when it seems that things are going well, God demands even more of us. It is the discomfort of giving even more and your reaction to it that brings you into the promises of God! Notice Abraham's reaction. Do you really want more from God? The way of dealing with something always goes before the promise. Don't give up but rather hunger for more. bmc 1 Moses 22; Matthew 5:6, 1 Corinthian 3:13-14; 2 Corinthian 5:14-15, 1. Peter 4:12-14; James 2:23; Hebrew 6:11-15; 10:35-36 |
