2 Timothy 1:6 Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.

People often fail to recognize the potential that exists in their lives. The reasons vary from fear to a lack of proper self-esteem to an inadequate relationship with God.

We become frightened when facing challenges that God has set before us, thinking that we cannot accomplish what God has asked us to do. We seem to forget that God does not observe us from an outward perspective but rather looks at the heart to decide whether or not we are fit for the tasks that He instructs us to perform. He realizes that we see our problem, but He also knows that we do not see our potential.

What if Peter had not recognized his gift of preaching, if Paul had not realized his abilities in outreach, or if Moses had not discovered his potential in leadership?

Consider what might happen if you don't recognize your potential. jw
