Newsletter of May 2009 Mar 12:30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. The tough reality is that most folks judge others by their actions, and yet they judge themselves by their intentions. The result is a bit of a distance - between the person you think you are and the person you actually are. Ask yourself this question - What occupies the greatest amount of time, emotional, and spiritual energy in your life? We are commanded to love the Lord with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength. He is to be the sun around which our lives orbit. Is that the case? You need to be brutally honest with yourself and consider where your mind settles when nothing else is occupying its attention. It isn't that you shouldn't enjoy simple pleasures- good music, hanging with friends, or a favorite hobby. But if your life is defined by those things, then you will be ineffective as a world-changer. True worshipers keep first things first - they give the first and best of themselves to God and His interests, and as a result they live in such a way as to make a true impact upon the world. Only God deserves your greatest loyalty. Only God deserves the praise of your life. And it is your life that will show, more than your words or even good intentions, who or what is your greatest love. Go for the real adventure of worshipping God alone with all that you are and all that you do. hv |
