Newsletter of November 2007 In the name of Jesus Christ! With the Christmas season approaching, the cities and houses will be decorated with different kinds of decorations as a sign of celebration. The light that these decorations emit brings joy and comfort to people's hearts, even when only temporarily, because everyone loves the light. When God started creation, light was already there on the first day and this shows its importance. The real light is not the one coming from the sun or from other sources, but it is the spiritual light, as Jesus proclaims in John 8:2: "I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." The words that Jesus speaks brighten the hearts of the believers, but there are still so many that are sitting in the darkness of this world. How do we reach them? The apostle Paul reveals in 2 Cor 4:4: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. The Word of God is able to guide people to salvation and to get them out of the darkness of this world. It is the light that is lifted up high as Jesus says in Luke 11:33 "No man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they which come in may see the light." Then we are able to tell others about Jesus and His wonders, His mighty deeds and about the plan of salvation, which is given to us and in doing this, we lift up the illuminated lamp, "the Word of God", highly. This will help people who are in darkness and the others, who have lost their way, to return where the light is, exactly like a lighthouse that guides the lost ships to come back to land. Let us fervently serve our Lord and not be weary to keep our lamps lighted and lifted high; and let us be like the five wise virgins, which took enough oil to keep their lamps burning till the coming of the Bridegroom, as Jesus teaches us in Matthew 25:1-13. Let us be faithful and patient until the end. And the Lord be with you. es |
