Authority in Jesus Christ |
2.Corinthians 10:8 and 17 For even if I should boast somewhat more
about our authority, which the Lord gave us for edification and not
for your destruction, I shall not be ashamed; But "he who glories,
let him glory in the LORD." (Jeremiah 9,23-24)
Have you ever noticed how the police conduct themselves and act? A few
days ago, I saw how a few police cars stopped on the side of the road.
When the police got out of the police car, they puffed up their chests,
and broadened their shoulders, and stuck their chins out, and, yes,
you guessed it - they pulled out their sunglasses.
What gives the police the right to carry themselves and act the way
that they do? It is not because of the police cars, the sirens, the
blue lights, the high technological equipment, or their uniforms. However,
all these things represent their authority which they possess. Just
imagine what would happen if we just had a small glimpse of the authority
which we have received in Jesus Christ. We would be proud and go about
holding our heads up high and acting as if the whole city belonged to
us.
Our "badges" would shine, and people would already recognize
who we are from a distance. Therefore, in this coming week, keep asking
yourself the question: "Am I walking on this level of eternal authority
or in deceitful subjection?" The level which you end up walking
depends upon you. ks
