Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with
good. Romans 12,21
Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves
another has fulfilled the law. Römer 13,8
During the time of the Old Testament, it was alright as according to
the Law to seek retribution - if John hit you in the face, you were
allowed to hit him back. In the New Testament, however, Jesus does not
want us to seek vengeance. He wants us to forgive one another.
I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do
good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use
you, and persecute you... For if ye love them which love you, what reward
have ye? do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren
only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?
(Matthew 5:44+ 46-47)
Jesus wants us to be different to the people in the world. Next time,
if you past somebody who you cannot stand or who has done wrong against
you, then pray for that person and bless them, and then "wait and
see what will happen". sw
