LESSON 3 |
THE GREATEST NEED OF THE HUMAN
SPIRIT IS COMFORT!
(The main imortance of the Holy Spirit)
The Human Spirit doesn’t just have daily battles with
fear, but with the constant thoughts and actions related to distractions.
Distraction is like a cancer in the life of a Christian. This and fear
play continual games in the mind of humans.
Humans are creatures that are motivated through thought and reasoning.
We have the power to act upon our thoughts by making decisions. Animals
are motivated through instinct and smell. They are not made in God’s
image and likeness; therefore they don’t use the means of decision.
Their power of thought is limited to their instinctive qualities.
God
made provisions for the Church that in the arms of His Spirit there
is a place of refuge and peace. Peace beyond human understanding, when
there is mayhem on every side. He becomes the One to quiet the storm,
and to assure you that all is well and in His control. The distraction
related to your life will have to take a back seat to His will for you.
Scripture Text relating to the people in the world that have no Comforter:
Ecclesiastes 4:1-3 Then I returned and considered
all the oppression that is done under the sun: And look! The tears of
the oppressed, But they have no comforter - On the side of their oppressors
there is power, But they have no comforter. Therefore I praised the
dead who were already dead, More than the living who are still alive.
Yet, better than both is he who has never existed, Who has not seen
the evil work that is done under the sun. New King James Version
(NKJV)
Here is the preacher exerting his wisdom through the
observation of what he witness about men. The tears of the oppressed,
who couldn’t find any comfort and those that oppressed them had power
to increase their suffering. He gave honor to the dead because they
could no longer be oppressed.
Dear saints, you are dead of transgressions and sin, dead to this world
through the blood of Jesus Christ and resurrected by the power of His
Spirit. This world can no longer make a claim; you have been bought
with a price. The cost was paid on Calvary. There is comfort for your
soul and mind through the power of a cleansing flood that flows from
Calvary. Dip your mind, heart and soul in that blood.
Scripture Text: Concerning Comfort
Matthew 5:4 Blessed are those who mourn, For they shall be comforted.
Promise from God!
John 14:16 And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another
Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and
Standby), that He may remain with you forever. Amplified Bible
(AMP)
John 15:26 But when the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Advocate,
Intercessor, Strengthener, Standby) comes, Whom I will send to you from
the Father, the Spirit of Truth Who comes (proceeds) from the Father,
He [Himself] will testify regarding Me. Amplified Bible (AMP)
John 16:6-8 But because I have said these things to you, sorrow
has filled your hearts [taken complete possession of them]. However,
I am telling you nothing but the truth when I say it is profitable (good,
expedient, advantageous) for you that I go away. Because if I do not
go away, the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Advocate, Intercessor, Strengthener,
Standby) will not come to you [into close fellowship with you]; but
if I go away, I will send Him to you [to be in close fellowship with
you]. And when He comes, He will convict and convince the world and
bring demonstration to it about sin and about righteousness (uprightness
of heart and right standing with God) and about judgment. Amplified
Bible (AMP)
Let us fight the good fight of faith and take Him at His Word, when
you spoke in tongues that peace began. We must allow the Lord to minister
to us about everything that concerns our lives and allow Him to quiet
the storms that rage in our lives.
Isaiah 28:11-13 No, but [the Lord will teach the rebels in a more
humiliating way] by men with stammering lips and another tongue will
He speak to this people [says Isaiah, and teach them His lessons]. To
these [complaining Jews the Lord] had said, This is the true rest [the
way to true comfort and happiness] that you shall give to the weary,
and, This is the [true] refreshing - yet they would not listen [to His
teaching]. Therefore the word of the Lord will be to them [merely monotonous
repeatings of]: precept upon precept, precept upon precept, rule upon
rule, rule upon rule; here a little, there a little - that they may
go and fall backward, and be broken and snared and taken. Amplified
Bible (AMP)
Isaiah 28:11-13 For with stammering lips and another tongue He will
speak to this people, To whom He said, “This is the rest with which
You may cause the weary to rest,” And, “This is the refreshing”; Yet
they would not hear. But the word of the LORD was to them, “Precept
upon precept, precept upon precept, Line upon line, line upon line,
Here a little, there a little,” That they might go and fall backward,
and be broken And snared and caught. New King James Version (NKJV)
