LESSON 4 |
How to Avoid Spiritual Traps?
Genesis 5:1-3
5:1 This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God
created man, in the likeness of God made he him;
2 Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their
name Adam, in the day when they were created.
3 And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his
own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth:
Notes: the book of Genesis is the book of beginnings, it’s very
important as a child of God to refer to the roots that created our separation
from God; then we understand the importance of truth and it’s important
foundation.
Psalms 51:1-5
51:1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David, when Nathan the prophet
came unto him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba. Have mercy upon me,
O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude
of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy
sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear
when thou judgest.
5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive
me.
Notes: David in his actions of repentance explains the dilemma
of the nature of his sins, from the direct result of his forefather
Adam! We must know the importance of true repentance.
2 Corinthians 6:14-17
14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship
hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light
with darkness?
15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that
believeth with an infidel?
16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are
the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them,
and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the
Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
Notes: protect your salvation, there’s no connection between
God the father of lights and Satan the deceiver and lord of darkness.
We are called to a separation from the thoughts and ways of the world!
Colossians 2:16-23
16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect
of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
18 Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and
worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not
seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,
19 And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands
having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the
increase of God.
20 Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world,
why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,
21 (Touch not; taste not; handle not;
22 Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and
doctrines of men?
23 Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility,
and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the
flesh.
1 John 2:15-17
15 Love
not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man
love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust
of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of
the world.
17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth
the will of God abideth for ever.
Notes: world means: (King James Strongs NT Bible) Probably
from the base of G2865; orderly arrangement, that is, decoration; by
implication the world (in a wide or narrow sense, including its inhabitants,
literally or figuratively [morally]): - adorning, world.
