Cultivate a Place for the Holy Spirit
"But ye shall receive power after that the
Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both
in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria. and unto the uttermost
part of the earth." (Acts 1:8)
What
is the power Jesus was talking about in Acts 1:8? It is the power
to hear from God, to speak in tongues, prophesy, do signs, miracles,
and wonders, and so much more. The power of the Holy Ghost does not
end at speaking in tongues.
We must cultivate a place daily, by earnestly praying, fasting, surrounding
ourselves with the right people, where the Holy Ghost can work through
us and dwell within us, so that we might show His love to everyone
we encounter on a daily basis.
Going through the motions is not going to carry us to the depths God
has in store for us, the motions are not a breakthrough for us. We
must not become moderate Christians, there is no way the Holy Ghost
can lead us if we aren't giving everything we have. God sees the beginning
from the ending. He sees where we will falter, He knows we will fall,
but that doesn't lessen his love for us.
One of my daily prayers is “Lord let others see you through me and
not myself,” which means my life must be so full of the Holy Ghost
that it is the most prominent thing in me. That others can see something
different in me and want what I have. We may be the only Jesus some
people will ever see.
If we live in the spirit, let us also walk in the spirit."
(Galatians 5:25) We must consciously make choices that allow the Holy
Ghost power to work throughout us. We must be intentional in our walk
with God. He has set a path before us that we must follow so that
we can win the people that are in our pathway. He has specifically
planned our steps that we may come in contact with people that are
hungry for Him. And because of that we must be deliberate in our walk
with God - I will leave you with one of my favorite quotes: have a
walk with God that is worth imitating." Sister Chrissy Duke
