Taking your city through sacrifice
Isaiah 55:8-9 For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher
than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts
than your thoughts.
Romans 8:12-14 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors—not to the flesh,
to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh
you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the
body, you will live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these
are sons of God.
Taking
our city requires a daily sacrifice of our flesh. Paul said, "I
die daily." And we should hold ourselves to the same standard.
We have to be willing to tell the Lord, "Your will, not mine,"
and truly mean it. Pastor Paul. D. Mooney of Calvary Tabernacle in Indianapolis,
IN, USA, always said that to plan your own life is to under-plan it.
There is no greater recipe for success than to realize that your success
has nothing to do with you. Your success isn't even your own; it is
God's.
Sacrificing our time and ourselves for someone else's glory can be very
difficult for our
flesh. But if we realize that it's not our time anyway, and we are not
our own to begin with, it becomes easy to sacrifice the life we've been
given back to the One who gave it to us in the first place. Sœur
